every event is important
Big and small, public and private – all of our events are important for us and we are proud of everything that has taken place since the beginning in 1989. Below you can read more about some of our most significant events.

Fotball gala in Hovet Idrottsgalan (swedish sports gala)
In 2008 the Swedish Sports Gala took place for the ninth time at the Globe. Most people remember how Björn Borg was named sportsman of the century in Sweden at the first gala in 2000 and gave the King a huge bear hug! Ever since then the Swedish Sports Gala has been one of Sweden’s most popular gala events.
The concept to combine a celebrity-rich “Oscar” gala full of our greatest sports heroes, and a flag-waving Swedish festival reliving the country’s greatest sporting moments, has become a great success. The TV audience, the royal family and the Swedish sporting elite wouldn’t dream of missing this glittering finale to the sporting year at the jubilant Ericsson Globe.
In 2008 over 2,500 guests on the main floor were served a delicious three-course gala dinner and a huge number watched the gala from the gallery. Around 3 million TV viewers also watched as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s became the king of the gala that year.

eurovision song contest
Every year since 2002, the Ericsson Globe has been the proud host arena for the Swedish final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Hardly any other annual event can measure up to this event in terms of media and commercial popularity.
Interest in the competition has exploded in the last two years and now both the final and two dress rehearsals are sell-out events in the Ericsson Globe. The atmosphere is incomparable here in the “world’s largest disco ball”, as the Swedish singer Lena PH famously called the Ericsson Globe during the Eurovision Song Contest.
Every year we work closely with the arranger to find exciting new solutions for stage designs, the VIP area and to maximize the audience space, as well as offering the best possible facilities for a gigantic TV broadcast.

Globens Luciakonsert (The Globe Lucia Day Concert), Ericsson Globe
Stockholm International Horse Show, Ericsson GlobeStockholm International Horse Show
The incomparable horse show that takes place at the Ericsson Globe during the first weekend of Advent every year is perhaps our great challenge in terms of construction. Not only do we take care of over 70,000 visitors over three days, but we also house and take care of almost 350 officials, around 500 competitors, and show participants.
Last but not least we also bring in 1,200 tonnes of sand to create a world-class ring, and we even build stables for over 200 horses!
The trade fair in Annexet is also an institution that is part of the event. Around 100 exhibitors display their products for three days resulting in a huge-scale commercial event.
As the event owner, together with the Swedish Equestrian Federation, Stockholm Globe Arenas is especially proud of this event considering that the Stockholm International Horse Show is the world’s largest indoor equestrian event in terms of spectators per day.

LG Hockey Games
The Ericsson Globe is without doubt Sweden’s national arena for ice hockey. The country’s largest indoor arena was built for the hockey world championship in 1989 and since then has remained the home arena for “Tre Kronor”, the Swedish National Team, for its most important matches, such as for yet another world championship in 1995.
LG Hockey Games is an annual tournament for national teams as part of the Euro Hockey Tour, and has become the hub of Swedish national team hockey.
Here the Swedish people have an opportunity to see their beloved national team play live, and to enjoy the fantastic entertainment that world-class hockey matches can offer.
LG Hockey Games is also the natural meeting place for the Swedish Ice Hockey Association’s sponsors and brings together many of the association’s members from different corners of the country.
The Finnish “invasion” during the tournament is palpable every year. From packed Finnish ferries thousands of supporters from our eastern neighbour are bussed to the Ericsson Globe to cheer on their hockey heroes and add some extra colour to the event.
48,610 spectators came to the Globe for the tournament in 2007.

Företagsevent, AnnexetMonster Jam
The American entertainment concept Monster Jam has become a tradition in the Ericsson Globe for the dark month of November.
Together with EMA Telstar (now called Live Nation Sweden) representatives from Stockholm Globe Arenas went to USA and experienced the rampage of these monster cars a few years ago. They saw the potential for the Swedish market immediately and the first year already saw this potential for success realised.
Every year around 40,000 visitors come to enjoy the monster trucks’ exciting contests, high speeds and fantastic jumps.
Safety is always a priority for this production and together with the handling of sound levels and the cars’ exhaust emissions, the smooth running of this event is a real challenge.

corporate events
In addition to the numerous public events, many corporate events are carried out each year at the Stockholm Globe Arenas. Many companies have held their general meetings, celebrated anniversaries, had partner meetings and arranged trade fairs in one of our locales.
