The Cure was formed in Crawley, England, in 1976 and was first named Easy Cure. Robert Smith is as always the front figure of the band, with his characteristic spiky hair and careless make up.
The first album "Three Imaginary Boys" was released in 1979 and was much acclaimed by critics as well as fans.
The second album "Seventeen Seconds" came in 1980, a slightly darker and with a more experimental sound, partly due to the new member Mathieu Hartley, keyboards.
The Cure soon became a cult band to many and the albums "Pornography", "The Walk" and "The Top" gave the band an even larger audience. Songs like "Just Like Heaven", "Lovesong" and "Lovecats" became big hits.
