Polar Prize winner 2012!
Paul Simon and Yo-Yo Ma are the Polar Prize Winners of 2012! The two winners will receive the award, together with 1 million SEK each from the hand of Sweden's King Carl XVI in a ceremony at Stockholm's Konserthus on 28 August.
Paul Simon has written classics like The Sound Of Silence, Mrs Robinson, Bridge Over Troubled Water and The Boxer for Simon and Garfunkel. A few of his solo hit songs: Mother And Child Reunion, Loves Me Like A Rock, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, Slip Slidin' Away, Late In The Evening, Your Can Call Me Al and The Obvious Child.
The album Graceland (1986) was a sensation, not only because of all the fantastic music but also because the album was partly recorded in South Africa with South African musicians like Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who will also be joining Pauls Simon at Ericsson Globe.
We are looking forward to a great evening together with one of the greatest song writers in modern time.
